Josephine’s Success Story: From Despair to Hope
In 2023, during one of Agape Mission of Mercy’s outreach programs, we met Josephine, a young mother in deep distress. Her one-year-old son was suffering from a severe skin disease that left painful sores, disfiguring his tender skin, and causing him unbearable discomfort. The condition was so severe that Josephine believed her neighbors had bewitched her child. Overwhelmed by fear, depression, and the stigma from the community, she had begun contemplating ending her own life.
At that critical moment, Agape Mission of Mercy intervened. We immediately facilitated medical care for her son. A skin sample was sent to Nairobi for testing, and with proper diagnosis and treatment, the boy began to recover. For Josephine, it was the beginning of renewed hope. The love, counseling, and practical help she received assured her that she was not alone and that her child’s life still held a future.
Fast forward to 26th September 2025, nearly three years later, during our Anti-Jigger Mission in the same community, we were overjoyed to find both mother and son healthy and thriving. The once frail little boy now stood strong and completely healed, his skin restored. Josephine herself was transformed—no longer the weary, hopeless mother we met before, but a vibrant woman radiating joy and gratitude.

there is more to be done so as to fully eradicate jiggers. Our team is continually researching and coming up with better methods of putting jiggers at bay from schools around western region and the poor and vulnerable people in the community. We hope to see greater and effectual change as we keep visiting our communities.
Her story is a powerful testimony of what compassion, timely intervention, and faith can achieve. What once seemed like a tale destined for tragedy has now become a story of healing and restoration. For Josephine and her son, life has taken on a new meaning, and they stand as living proof that even in the darkest moments, hope can be rekindled.
At Agape Mission of Mercy, stories like Josephine’s fuel our commitment to reach out, restore, and renew lives with God’s love.
