ESHIVANZI PRIMARY SCHOOL ANTI JIGGERS CAMPAIGN
We Started our 2025 Anti jigger campaign by visiting Eshivanzi Primary School. We prioritize visiting Schools especially primary schools because statistically in Kenya they have the highest number of jigger prevalence. We noticed in western Kenya most Schools and students home are not floored which is a good breeding ground for jiggers. We aim to keep sensitizing the community and the schools on how best to prevent jiggers’ infestation and proper hygiene for their students.

At the school we treated 30 students with jiggers. 5 of these students were greatly affected by jiggers on their feet. We cleaned their feet with care, and administered treatment to help. Additionally, we treated around 40 children with mild and slightly server cases of ring worms. Ringworm in school children is a fungal skin infection, not caused by a worm, and spreads through skin-to-skin contact, shared objects, or contact with infected animals. We distributed 20 pairs of shoes to students affected by jiggers. Shoes distribution is so key because it helps protect jiggers from entering the children’s feet hence promoting healing.
